Recycled Fabric Wrist Cuffs

I've listed 2 new cuffs today on etsy. These cuffs are completely made from fabric scraps and thread scraps. When I cut out larger projects like the clutches I found myself throwing away perfectly good little pieces, which I eventually decided to keep and see if I could figure out a way to re-use them. Ta-Da, my "recycled wrist cuffs" were born.

Cuffs and more cuffs

Yesterday was a triumphant day for me. I finished 167 cuffs! I spent pretty much all day Tuesday and half of Wednesday hunched over my sewing machine so when I finished I let out yelp of satisfaction and then cursed my back for not being able to take the abuse I'd put it through. I went to the mall yesterday afternoon with my mom and happened to spot those massaging chairs that are usually filled with men who have been dragged to the mall by their wives. I normally would not want to sit in one of those chairs in public but my back was so sore that I made my mom do it with me. It was delightful, aside from the intervals where the mechanism in the chair is kind of punching you in the back, which makes everything jiggle and there are adolescent boys near. I am not a mall frequenter but I think I'm hooked on those chairs, I'm already contemplating a weekend visit just for this reason.

The Week in Review

The weather is terrible today so I spent most of the day indoors. I did some major spring cleaning and our house is cleaner than its been in months. So, instead of braving the weather, we are staying cozy at home. Boyfriend is watching basketball and I am blogging and catching up on Perez.

This has been a great week for me, my goodies are in two new stores and I now have a real accountant helping me out now. Here are a few shots from the week of new goods I'm making. I started a gagillion cuffs, and I hope to make enough to get me through Blue Dome Festival in May.

Here is just one of my buckets of scraps. I try not to throw any scraps away so I can reuse them, but sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in fabric bits, they stick to my clothes and especially my socks, then I drag them all over the house. I have to either change clothes or do some serious lint-brushing if I plan on leaving the house after I've been working.

Cuffs that are halfway done.

Lots of linings for coin purses and pouches.

Gold ink = yummy!

And finally, this is my best friend.

Hope everyone has a delightful weekend in spite of the non-delightful weather!

Etsy

I just listed these lovely items on Etsy.

I finished a ton of rings last night and they turned out so well. I want to wear one on every finger!

Sent a bunch of Cuffs and Headbands to Dwelling Spaces today, just in time for the Dunny trading party tonight.

Tres Cool

Made some cuffs this morning. I usually try to make 100 at a time but it gets really boring to do that so I just did 20 today. These puppies will be on their way to Dwelling Spaces tomorrow along with the new headbands. I was going to write a bunch of stuff but I'm too tired so here is a picture story of what I did today. Enjoy

Tulsa Kids Magazine

We made it into the Tulsa Kids Magazine "Gifts For the Hip Mom on Your List."  Jonathan Adler also made the list, which made me feel REALLY hip.  Dwelling Spaces and Blue 7 both have lots of cuffs to choose from, and by the way your mom just told me that she really wants a cuff for Christmas.
