I feel like all the caffeine is really starting to pay off. I've gotten so much done this week for Renegade Austin. I'm planning to head back home to Tulsa early next week where my miter waits for me in my mom's garage. I'm planning to make a few new display pieces for my table. And I think breaking up the ridiculously long drive from Bloomington to Austin into two legs will make it a little more bearable.

A few new goodie yum yums.....

Today is boyfriend's last day of school. He has officially completed his first year of grad school, at IU and I'm so proud of him! I think I will even be able to take some time off tonight to go out and celebrate!

Dwelling Spaces

This is where it all started. Three years ago Mary Beth, the owner of Dwelling Spaces saw a tote bag I was carrying, asked me if I made it and if I wanted to put some in the store. The answers were, of course yes and yes! Three years later and many more products, Dwelling Spaces is still home base for Felix & Jayne even though we don't live in Tulsa anymore.

So on that note today and today only at Dwelling Spaces, ALL Felix & Jayne merch is 10% off.

Fun at the Photo Booth

We had a great time at Dfest this weekend.  Our friends Stela and Riley stayed with us and Mary Beth from Dwelling Spaces hooked us up with Dfest tickets, so all in all a fantastic weekend.  Once again Riley's band, Mayola, stole the show.    I think the photo booth pics pretty much sum up the weekend.

the fourth o' july

Last night we packed up a picnic dinner and headed to Veteran's park to watch the fireworks display set off at the river. The first 10 minutes were lovely and then there was a somewhat abrupt halt to the show and of course no one knew what was happening. We waited it out for a bit but finally headed back to the car. When we got home, we looked online and saw that there had been an explosion, and while no one was hurt the fire had damaged the rest of the detonator's so no more fireworks.

Luckily I splurged Friday and bought $11 worth of sparklers.
Sparklers + camera = hours of fun!

Blue Dome Festival

Just finished my third year at the Blue Dome Arts Festival in Tulsa. Although there were threats of rain, the only rain we got was Friday night after the festival had shut down. Saturday morning was definitely a bummer when we realized how many tents, including the one we had borrowed, had been ruined by the storm. A big thanks to my mom who went to Sears and rescued the day with a new tent. The sun came out and the rest of the weekend was beautiful.

I met lots of rad people, including people from Ireland, New Jersey, Alabama, Florida, and Michigan who were in town to see Hanson. I have to say that Hanson fans might be the most loyal fans of all, and they are really really nice. Saturday morning Hanson and their shrieking fans walked a mile through the Blue Dome Fest (without shoes...gross to the max) and after all these years of living in Tulsa I finally saw the boys of Hanson. I still think of them as looking like they did in the Mmm...bop video, but they're all grown up.

The art cars were killler this year! My favorite was Camera Van, but the fish car was pretty rad too.

five by five

The Tulsa Artist Coalition has a fundraiser every year called 5 X 5. It is called such because TAC gives you a 5 inch by 5 inch canvas to do with what you will and then donate back to them. A gallery opening is held on May 5 at 5:55pm and each work is priced at 55 dollars. Yes, redundant, but still a great idea to raise money and allow local artists a chance to display their work.

First I, NEVER work this small so it is a challenge to change scale in such a drastic change. I really enjoy being able to try out new things and not worry about messing up a huge piece of cloth that I then have to rip out. If I don't like where the piece is going I just start over, which I ended up doing this year.

I started out by using my pile of thread scraps that I had saved up. Honestly, I thought the piece turned out cool, except that the texture all the thread made after I had sewn it down reminded me of, well, pubic hair. Now, I don't know about you but I'm not crazy about pubes being the first thought of something I've created. I'm sure many people wouldn't mind, but I do.

Take 2

Boyfriend even did one. Very nice, boyfriend!

Here is my 5 x 5 from last year.

Here is my 5 x 5 from 3 years ago, when I still fancied myself a painter.
